How to remember 100% of what you read during examination

The following tips(in no particular order) have helped me to remember what I have read or studied:

Talk about it

Talk about what you have read with your friends if you can. If possible, assemble people that experience difficulty in that subject and take your time to teach them. You can also look for where questions are asked regarding that subject and answer appropriately. Set up a group chat or simply impart knowledge on a subject that requires it. If you do this what you have read or studied is not only being retained within you but you will easily remember it.

Read wide about that topic

To better remember what you have read, read voraciously on it. Look for other authors, articles or forums that talked about it and read. Always be up-to-date on new developments on that topic. As you do this, you are becoming an authority in that topic or subject and when asked any question about it whether in examination or interview you will easily remember it.

Be sure to understand what you are reading

To study something you must understand it first. After reading, always ask yourself, “do i understand this?”, “can I teach others about this topic any time without looking at the book?”. It is very important to ask yourself this question before moving on to the next paragraph or chapter. Do not wait until you finish the whole article or book before asking yourself such questions. At any point you found it difficult to answer those questions, go back to that paragraph or chapter again to read

Jot down key points

Taking notes of important points while reading helps one to focus on what is important and also process the information quicker. This means that one must have a piece of paper for taking notes while reading. What to jot down should not be long sentences or phrases but keywords, short phrases, patterns which will assist one to remember what the paragraph or page talks about.

Use of mnemonic

Mnemonic is something intended to assist or improve memory retention. it can be a pattern, acronym or rhyme. There is no general rule on the use of mnemonics. It depends on the individual and what you are studying. For example, you might be studying the characteristics of a developed nation, you can decide to use an acronym by noting the first word from each characteristic. It is very much easier to remember an acronym than to remember the entire characteristics at once. The acronym serves as an aid.
